On December 14, 2024, at the Henry Carter Hill Library, in Clinton, CT, join Mann and other opera fans and those just curious, for an Opera Talk about the renowned composer Giacomo Puccini, in commemoration of the centennial of his passing. This free Opera Talk will be in the Henry Carter Hull Library’s Community Room on Saturday December 14 at 2:00 PM, followed at 3:00 PM by a Wine and Cheese reception.

Giacomo Puccini is regarded as the greatest and most successful proponent of Italian opera after Verdi. Though his early work was firmly rooted in traditional late 19th-century Romantic Italian opera, he later developed his work in the realistic Verismo style.
His most renowned works are La bohème (1896), Tosca (1900), Madama Butterfly (1904), and Turandot (1924), all of which are among the most frequently performed and recorded of all operas.
Mann reveals the human and artistic sides of this magnificent artist, from his early failures and frustrations to his international fame and untimely death. He will explore the world of Puccini’s music, using contemporary pictures and musical excerpts of his greatest hits.
