Opera Theater of Connecticut marks its milestone 40th anniversary with a landmark season featuring Johann Strauss II’s sparkling masterpiece, Die Fledermaus. Taking the stage on August 7, 9, and 10, 2025, at the Andrews Memorial Theater, 54 East Main Street, Clinton, this production, sung and performed in English, reimagines the timeless operetta with a fresh script by Artistic Director Alan Mann.
Seamlessly blending the original charm with contemporary flair, Mann’s inventive and humorous storytelling style enhances the intrigue of romantic deception and the champagne-fueled antics that have delighted audiences for generations. Attendees at this production will be transported into Strauss’s effervescent world, where vibrant melodies and playful humor create an unforgettable symphony of joy.
This operetta masterpiece, blending elegance with mischief and comedic chaos, is a feast for the senses, ensuring an unforgettable evening filled with laughter, music, and dazzling theatricality. Highlights include captivating serenades, a famous Hungarian czárdás, and the luscious score by the “Waltz King,” all woven into a marvelous tale of misguided revenge, romantic mischief, and champagne’s delicious bubbles.
Conducted by Kyle Swann, the cast features Sarah Callinan as Rosalinda and Matt Morgan as her husband Gabriel von Eisenstein. Luke Scott stars as Dr. Falke whose drive for revenge propels the plot. Other characters include: Adele (Leah Brzyski), the Eisenstein’s maid with hopes of making it big on the stage; Alfred (Alex McKissick), Rosalinda’s former flame with hopes of rekindling their passion; Prince Orlofsky (Allegra De Vita), host at the champagne-filled party where the plots twist and unravel; Ivan (Andrew Martens), the Prince’s attaché with a quick wit,Warden Frank (Rod Nelman), who runs the prison where Eisenstein is supposed to be serving his 8-day sentence due to his rambling lawyer, Dr. Blind (Matthew Surapine), all accompanied by Opera Theater of Connecticut’s wonderful chorus and orchestra.
And a special guest appearance of Artistic Director Alan Mann a Frosch the Jailer.

Opera Theater features Opera Talk, an informal, informative talk about the evening’s opera and composer by Artistic Director Alan Mann, starting an hour and a half before each performance, in the theater itself. Mann is known as a regional and international speaker on opera and its origins and development.
