2017 Season

We have a wonderful season planned

as we celebrate our 32nd anniversary of

providing affordable opera in an intimate setting!

Starting this season, we enhance our production schedule with added presentations in the spring, we add even more educational performances in schools, libraries and community centers through our Overtures series, as well as expanding and developing new musical programming featuring developing young artists.

Opera Dinner at the Woodwinds

Opera Theater of Connecticut launches its 2017 season at the Woodwinds Banquet Hall in collaboration with Café Allegre of Madison. This intimate event, initiating OTC’s 32nd season, features highlights of Opera Theater of Connecticut’s presentations during this new year.

Our twelfth annual Opera Gala and wine-tasting: Wine, Women and Song. Join us at the spacious and glorious WoodWinds as we toast the new season and prepare for a powerful August  presentation of Puccini’s moving and dynamic tragic opera Madama Butterfly (see details below).

Opera Theater of Connecticut’s 2017 MainStage performances of Puccini’s melodic and moving tragic opera, Madama Butterfly. The production will be sung in Italian with English supertitles for enhanced audience enjoyment and appreciation, accompanied by Opera Theater’s orchestra and chorus.

Guilford Performing Arts Festival

October 13, 2017

Opera Theater of Connecticut has been invited to participate in the first Guilford Performing Arts Festival, a celebration of music, theater and dance, which will take place October 12 – 15, 2017, at various locations around Guilford Green, in schools and throughout the town. Designed to engage residents and visitors of all ages, the festival will offer FREE performances and workshops that are spirited, fun and inspiring.

Opera Theater will be presenting “The Best of Rodgers and Hammerstein”; an eighty-minute concert of professional singers performing highlights from such Broadway hits as Oklahoma, Carousel, South Pacific, and The King and I. The performance, which includes witty and informative narrative by OTC Artistic Director Alan Mann, is on Friday October 13 in the acoustically wonderful Guilford First Church of Christ, Scientist and begins at 6:30pm.
