Opera Dinner

at The Woodwinds

Special Opera Concert and Dinner. Opera Theater of Connecticut launches its 2016 season at the Woodwinds Banquet Hall in collaboration with Café Allegre of Madison. This intimate event, initiating OTC’s 31st season, features highlights of Opera Theater of Connecticut’s presentations during this new year.

With a per person cost of only $55 for both music and dinner (beverages not included), this is a special occasion that you cannot miss!

An Evening with Cole Porter; at the Sanibel Music Festival, Florida. Cole Porter’s wit and playful style in lyrics and music will never find a challenger. This musical evening will feature six professional singers performing hit tunes by this celebrated American composer whose works include Kiss Me Kate, Silk Stockings, and Anything Goes.

Mozart Masterpieces; at the Sanibel Music Festival, Florida. A concert of highlights and scenes by the world’s most important composer, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, whose operas, concertos, symphonies, and sonatas profoundly shaped classical music. Six professional opera singers will perform excerpts from The Marriage of Figaro, Abduction from the Seraglio, Così fan tutte, and Don Giovanni.

 

Statewide Amici Vocal Competition

Amici Vocal Competition. Run by the Amici, Opera Theater of Connecticut’s network of volunteers, the event provides a competition venue, monetary awards, as well as performance opportunities to young Connecticut singers. An audience of opera-lovers is welcome all day at the Andrews Memorial Theater.

Tickets, available at the door, are $5 general admission or $4 for seniors and students, and are good for all, or any part of, the day.

Sunday June 5, 2016; our eleventh annual Opera Gala and wine-tasting: Wine, Women and Song. Join us as we toast the start of our 4th decade and prepare for a powerful summer presentation of Bizet’s moving and dynamic tragic opera Carmen at the spacious and glorious WoodWinds. Combine this with an entertaining wine tasting and you have an unforgettable event. This gala promises to be another exciting event, so be sure to reserve your “wine glasses” as soon as the invitations arrive.

August 9, 11, 13, and 14, 2016; Opera Theater of Connecticut launches its 4th decade with Georges Bizet’s seductive drama, Carmen. The production will be sung in French with English supertitles for enhanced audience enjoyment, accompanied by Opera Theater’s orchestra and chorus.

Grand and Glorious Opera Choruses

November 19 and 20, 2016

A selection of well-known choruses and ensemble pieces from the pens of Bizet, Donizetti, Leoncavallo, Mascagni, Puccini, Rossini, Verdi, and Wagner, featuring the combined vocal forces of both organizations and with four soloists: soprano Nadia Aguilar, mezzo Kelly Hill, tenor Lucas van Lierop, and baritone Mark Womack.

The concert will be conducted by Hartford Chorale’s music director Richard Coffey, accompanied by Kyle Swann, and interspersed with witty and informative narratives by OTC’s own Alan Mann.
